Yonathan Gavidia "El Morocho" (The Twin), is a Venezuelan percussionist, music producer and also a versatile systems engineer who has both performed live and participated in the recording of several albums. Yonathan is a well versed Musician who dominates several music genders and styles such as Jazz, Pop, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Flamenco, Afro-Venezuelan rhythms among others; he has played with different bands and has participated in several music projects.
Yonathan started his career learning Afro-Venezuelan music attending workshops conducted by his teacher Alexander Livinalli sponsored by the Venezuelan foundations “Fundarte” and “Biggot”, (Livinalli, is a well renowned percussionist and he is considered by many one of the most important and transcendental “Cultor” in the Venezuelan music). Livinalli was the person from whom Yonathan started gaining a deeper understanding on the study of the Afro-Venezuelan rhythms and their folkloric manifestations; Yonathan and Livinalli did lots of research together on the Afro-Venezuelan rhythms, they conducted field investigations, gathering information and recording the sounds all over the country.
At very young age Yonathan already became part of several local Venezuelan bands with long musical trajectory such as The “Costa Caribe” band (conducted by Cheo Hurtado), The music group “ConVenezuela” (Famous group specialized in traditional Venezuelan music), The Saúl Verá ensemble, The “Gurrufio” ensemble, The “Serenata Guayanesa” band, Alberto Naranjo’s band, among others. Yonathan has always had a passion for the development of “new age” music and for the mix of the Afro-Venezuelan rhythms with other world music genders/rhythms.
After a while, out of his passion toward music, Yonathan then enrolled to study music theory while at the same time taking lessons with several successful and renowned music teachers so he could master The Afro-Cuban, Afro-Colombian, Afro-Brazilian and other rhythms.
By then, the bases of his career became fully cemented and he started to be engaged by different groups and producers from several music genders, he was requested to teach, perform in live concerts and record albums of The Afro-Venezuelan music.
Given his solid and widely recognized knowledge on the Afro-Venezuelan music, Yonathan has now become in one of the most demanded Venezuelan musicians, He has been requested to participate in many projects for the creation of “new sounds” and “new age” artistic appraisals and He has also been invited to conduct music clinics and workshops by the most outstanding Venezuelan artists and institutions.
Now, after more than 20 years of career, Yonathan Gavidia "El Morocho" (The Twin) has a long career as percussionist and musician, having performed in many concerts and recorded several albums with Venezuelan and international artists such as:

Currently, Yonathan is involved in several music projects with several highly successful Venezuelan artists, he is not only performing with those artists but also contributing with his knowledge and experience on the concepts used for the creation of mix of “new age” music rhythms that have recently become very popular and achieved massive success in Venezuela.

María Teresa Chacín: Venezuelan singer with a remarkable musical trajectory winner of Latin GRAMMY
• MAU (Movida Acústica Urbana) group, Group formed by many of the most successful musicians and also founders of the of the movement called "Rock&MAU" consisting of the sound of The "MAU" band in a fusion with the sounds of most outstanding Venezuelan rock artists such as “La Vida Boehme” (winners of Latin GRAMMY), Vinilo Versus (winners of Latin GRAMMY), Malanga band, Caramelos de Cianuro band, Tomates Fritos band, Nana Cadavieco band, Los Mesoneros ( nominee for Latin GRAMMY) band and Los Colores band.
